* These are the Supplement volumes to the 10th ed. (Amsterdam, 1702), which was published in 4 vols. The 4 vols. were a reprint, these 2 supplement volumes meant to update them. Updates in this supplement also have the corrections of the 12th edition which were not published in the so-called Paris Supplement of 1714. New editions and updates like this were characteristic for this encyclopedia: ‘New material, particularly contemporary events and biographical information, was incorporated, each edition becoming an accurate mirror of the times. Thus each edition even now is worthy of preservation and provides valuable material for the research worker’ (R. Collison: Encyclopedias: their history throughout the ages).
