* Rabbi Joseph Samuel Bloch (1850-1923), published a strong defense of the Jewish faith against the antisemitic and antijudaist views of August Rohling, as published in Rohling's work Der Talmudjude (1871). This book, a translation of ‘Israël und die Völker nach jüdischer Lehre (1922), gives an overview of all publications concerning the August Rohling trial (1883-1885) as well as a thorough insight into Judaism and the attacks on Judaism throughout the centuries.
