* Tobias Michael Carel Asser, 1838-1913, wrote this study on the concept of value in political economy, replying to a prize contest of the Univ. of Leyden. At that time he was a student at the Univ. of Amsterdam at the age of 19. He received the golden medal for his book, which he published one year later. Asser specialized in international law and received the Nobel prize in 1911.
