* Gottlob Christoph Jonathan Hoffmann (1815-1885), founder of the German Temple Society, a radical Pietist group in Germany in the nineteenth century. In 1868 the Templers arrived in Haifa to establish Christian colonies throughout Palestine. In this book he wrote down his ideas and rules of the Templer communities, striving to establish a kingdom of God in the Middle East.
