* L’Educatore Israelita (1853-1874) was originally intended for children but it enlarged its scope and became a force in Piedmontese Jewry, largely responsible for the reorganisation of the communities. It was edited by Giuseppe Levi and Esdra Pontremoli. After Giuseppe Levi’s death in 1874 the new editor Flaminio Servi changed the title in Il Vesillo Israelitico, which continued to appear until 1922, containing a large number of historical and literary studies, a valuable source of history of Italian Jewry. Later editors were Ferruccio Servi, Aldo Lattes and Gughelmo Lattes (see Roth, The history of the Jews of Italy, p.500)
